How to become a member of GSR

MEMBERSHIP


Full Membership

a.Full membership shall be opened to all qualified professionals under the Medical Radiation Technology group of the Allied Health Professions, namely Diagnostic Radiographers, Radiation Therapists, Nuclear Medicine Radiographers, Sonographers and Radiologic Technicians who meet the Society’s Professional Development Education and Research Committee criteria for such membership.

b.A full member shall also be registered with the Allied Health Profession’s council as a condition precedent to be a member of this society

Student Membership

a.Student membership maybeopentoallstudentspursuing Bachelor Degree or Higher Degree programme in Medical Radiation Technology from institutions accredited by the Allied Health Professions Council and the National Accreditation Board and meet the Society’s Professional Development, Education and Research Committee criteria.

b.A student May be permitted to take part in such proceedings and functions of the Society, and shall not vote on any resolution at any meeting of the Society

c. A Student Member shall not hold any office on the National Executive Council except Student representative.

Temporary Membership:

a.Temporary membership up to six(6) months may be offered to qualified visiting Medical Radiation Technology professionals who are certified members of their national associations and meet the Society’s Professional Development Education and Research Committee’s criteria for such membership.

b.All qualified Medical Radiation Technology professionals serving as interns who meet the Society’s Professional Development, Education and Research Committee criteria may qualify for temporary membership subject to the written approval of the appropriate body

c. An Intern desiring to be a temporary Member must also be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council in Ghana, and be an intern in an accredited medical facility.

d.Temporary members may attend all meetings and use facilities of the Society but are not permitted to vote and shall not hold any office in the Society. Temporary membership is subject to renewal.

Overseas Membership

a.Overseas Membership is open to Medical Radiation Technology professionals working abroad who meet the Council’s criteria for such membership.

b.Overseas members may attend all meetings and use facilities of the Society but are not permitted to vote and shall hold no office in the Society.

c. He/she shall pay an annual subscription to be determined by the Society.

Afiliate Membership

a.This is open to individuals who want to be associated with Society.

b.May be permitted to take part in such proceedings and functions of the Society,as the Council shall deem fit,but shall not have any vote on any resolution at any meeting of the Society.

c. Shall not hold any office.

Corporate Membership

a.This is open to suitable commercial organizations and institutions that want to be associated with the Society.

b.May be permitted to take part in such proceedings and functions of the Society, as the Council shall deem fit, but shall not have any vote on any resolution at any meeting of the Society.

c. Shall not hold any office.

Honorary membership

a.The Society, at Congress, may resolve by special resolution, that the National Executive Council admits to honor ary membership any personality who in the opinion of the Council has rendered significant service to the Society or to any of the objects for which the Society is formed to promote.

b.May be permitted to take part in such proceedings and functions of the Society,as the Council shall deem fit,but shall not have any vote on any resolution at any meeting of the Society.

c. Shall not hold any office.

d.Shall not be liable to pay admission fee or any subscription to the Society.

Senior Membership

a.Senior members must have been a full member of the Society and retired from active service.

b.Such Senior Members will enjoy all the privileges of membership but may not be obliged to pay any subscription or dues

Registration

a.Registration of members is by application to the General Secretary of the Society who shall refer all membership application to the Professional Development, Education and Research Committee.

b.The Professional Development, Education and Research Committee shall assess all applications for membership and make recommendations to the National Executive Council, which shall take a decision on such application based on available recommendations.

c. The recommendations of the above mentioned committee shall not be binding on the National Executive Council.

d.All membership registrations shall be accompanied with a registration fee to be determined by the Council together with all the requirements demanded from the applicant.

e.Each member shall pay to the Society such fee(s), dues and fulfill such othe rcondition(s) as shall be prescribed by the Society from time to time and/or as may be amended from time to time.

f. A member is deemed to be in good standing if such a member has discharged all financial and other

obligations as mandated by the Society for not lesst han 6 months.

Resignation or Cessation of Membership:

1 A person shall cease to be a member of the Society under the following conditions:

i. If he/she resigns from the Society

ii. If he/she is dismissed by the Society

iii. Upon era sure of his/he name from the register of the AHPC under any section of the Health Professions Regulatory Bodies Act, Act 857,2013 or any other relevant regulation in force at the time.

iv. If he/she dies

v. If his/her license or certificate to practice is revoked or with drawn or ceases to be valid

The National Executive Council may recommend to any meeting of the General Assembly the exclusion/dismissal of any member from the Society if the Council is satisfied after due process that;

i. the conduct of such member is detrimental to the honour and integrity of the Ghana Society of Radiographers or calculated to bring the profession or the Society into disrepute;

ii. the member has willfully and repeatedly refused to comply with the provisions of the Constitution and the code of ethics of the Society.

iii. the member has been convicted of any crime per the laws of the republic of Ghana relating to the profession or for dishonesty.

Any member,who is dismissed from the Society, shall lose his/her benefits and his/her name shall be erased or struck off the records of the society.
